County Administrator Craig Meadows names Clay M. McCoy as the Director of Human Resources, beginning April 4, 2016.
“I am excited Clay is joining our team. He brings a vast amount of experience and leadership to this position,” Meadows said. “It’s clear that he is a ‘people person’ and enjoys taking an active role, working with employees to better their environment.”
McCoy brings over 15 years of experience in Human Resources, and his most recent work includes 5 years as Director of Human Resources with Community Housing Partners (CHP), a non-profit organization with roughly 400 employees and operations in 5 states. Additionally, McCoy served as the Director of Human Resources for the Town of Christiansburg for more than a decade.
“As a lifelong resident, it feels great to work in an organization that makes positive impacts, knowing the work you are doing is benefiting employees and citizens, who are also your neighbors,” McCoy said.
McCoy received his Bachelors’s Degree in General Business from Radford University. The Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) certified him as a Senior Professional of Human Resources and a Senior Certified Professional. McCoy was previously a member of the International Public Managers’ Association - Human Resources. His work with CHP was recognized in 2012 and 2014, receiving the New River Valley SHRM “Diamond Diversity Award” for progressive policies on workplace inclusion and partnership with community and civic groups to further the organization’s equal opportunity recruitment efforts.
