Attention ghosts, princesses, and super heroes! The annual Trick or
Treat at the Montgomery County Government Center will take place on
Monday, Oct. 31, 2016. In addition, the public is invited to participate
in Tricks for Treats, a donation drive for the Animal Care and Adoption Center.
Stop by 755 Roanoke Street in Christiansburg with the little ones from 3-4:30 p.m. to collect treats from guys and ghouls in the Government Center as well as donate items to the shelter. Trick-or-treaters are encouraged to contribute pet food, blankets, towels, soft treats, and toys for dogs and cats. Monetary donations are also accepted. Checks may be written to Montgomery County Friends of Animal Care and Control or MCFACC. See how your donation helps (open PDF file).
Montgomery County Parks and Recreation has organized the trick-or-treating event for more than five years, and an average of 50 children participate each year.
Construction of the Animal Care and Adoption Center is slated for completion in 2017, and the new space will be able to house 68 dogs and 64 cats. The new center is located on five acres at 480 Cinnabar Road in Christiansburg, adjacent to the current animal shelter.
