Volunteer Montgomery

Volunteer opportunities include assisting area non-profit organizations, visiting nursing homes, bake sales and specialized events throughout the year.

Volunteer time commitment is up to each individual and their availability. Volunteers must be willing to serve without compensation.  Minors (under 18 years of age) must have a parent/guardian accompany them on all Volunteer Montgomery activities. Parent/guardian must also complete a Volunteer Enrollment Application.

*We do not facilitate court-ordered community service at this time.

Reporting Hours

It has been brought to our attention lately that many of our volunteers don’t report all of your hours because you don’t want to boast or brag about the service you provide. Volunteer Montgomery thrives and EXISTS because of your service hours to our community! Please remember that we are generously funded by the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors because of all of the reports we send about projects and hours that our volunteers provide each year. If you have any questions about how to report your hours each month, please contact a member of our team at volunteermontgomery@montgomerycountyva.gov! 

You can submit volunteer hours by mail, email or by visiting https://forms.montva.com/Forms/volunteer-hours. If you use this link, your volunteer time will be emailed to staff.

Gift Basket Raffle

We’re excited to announce our first-ever Gift Basket Raffle, featuring 20 amazing baskets generously donated by our wonderful volunteers and local businesses! With a variety of baskets to choose from, there’s something for all ages.

Tickets are 1 ticket for $10 or 3 tickets for $25

Each ticket can be entered into the basket(s) of your choice, giving you the chance to win your favorites! Tickets are able to be purchased now and will be available through November 23. The winners will be announced during a Facebook Live drawing on November 24. You do not need to be present to win. 🎁

Photos of the baskets will be shared in a dedicated Facebook album, and there will be three opportunities to view the baskets in person! Stay tuned for more details about the viewing dates. 📷

Volunteer Montgomery Evening Event

We are excited to bring back our most popular volunteer evening event! This month, we will be decorating (fake) pumpkins that will be given to local nursing home residents. If you would like to attend, please call the office at 540-382-5775 or email us at volunteermontogmery@montgomerycountyva.gov

All ages are welcome! All supplies will be supplied by Volunteer Montgomery.

Join us on October 30 from 5:30- 7:30 PM as we decorate pumpkins for local nursing homes. You can email or call the office if you would like to come.

 

Give Local NRV 2026

Thank you for everyone's support during Give Local NRV. We surpassed our goal! Every donation counts and is all used to give back to our community! We will be able to continue to do great projects such as Supplies for Seniors, Holiday Tote Bags, and more thanks to our supporters & volunteers.

            • November 24, 2026: Our office will be closing at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24, in observance of Thanksgiving.
