General District Court
The General District Court hears:
- Civil cases involving amounts under $25,000
- Traffic cases
- Suits involving misdemeanor crimes
- Preliminary hearings on felonies
- Commitments for the mentally ill
Court case information
You may look up cases in all Virginia jurisdictions with
Virginia's Judicial System website.
- Go to the General District Courts Automated Information System page.
- Select the court locality from the drop down list, then click begin.
- Choose the type of case (e.g., traffic, criminal, etc.), then click continue.
- Search for a particular case by name, case number, or date.
- When finished click logoff.
