About
The Human Services Division keeps citizens, agencies and County government informed about services and programs, both public and private, in the areas of human services delivery. The programs administered include:
Alternative Community ProgramsVirginia Juvenile Community Crime Control Act (VJCCCA)
Alternative Community Programs are sanctions
available to the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court and Court Services Unit to address delinquent behaviors of youth involved in the juvenile justice system. The programs are designed to provide juveniles with a basic understanding of responsibility
and good work habits. (Grant funded)
Children's Services Act (CSA)
The
Children's Services Act was enacted by the General Assembly in 1993 to pool funds to purchase services for high-risk youth. Its goal is to provide high quality, child centered, family focused, cost effective, community-based services to high–risk
youth and their families. Human Services oversees the County’s CSA program, creating a collaborative system of service delivery. CSA funds are managed at the local level by two multidisciplinary teams.
Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)
RSVP networks to create volunteer opportunities for seniors, and serve as a resource for area organizations.
The program links the skills, knowledge and experience of older adults with the needs of their community. RSVP provides support to volunteers while providing opportunities that promote independence and an active lifestyle. (Grant funded)
