Volunteer Opportunities

Project LINC

The LINC Letter, a bimonthly publication that's mailed to Eastern Montgomery County households, is seeking volunteers to perform administrative tasks (paperwork), help organize and staff events, help with newsletter distribution, pursue story ideas, and more. Some of the work can be done from home using a printer and computer. If interested, please write to lincstories@gmail.com or call or text  202-841-9261.

Warm Hearth Village Resident's Green Committee

The Warm Hearth Village Resident’s Green Committee proudly announces its partnership with Trex and their Recycling Challenge, with the objective of educating the public on the importance of plastic film recycling. The Trex Company has hosted the Recycling Challenge since 2006. Participants collect plastic film with the goal of recycling a minimum of 500 pounds of plastic in a 6-month period.

The bags are collected at three locations on Warm Hearth’s campus: Karr Activity Center, The Village Center, and The Kroontje Health Care Center.  Volunteers from throughout the Village then retrieve the bags and deliver them to a participating grocery store to be recycled through a reverse logistics channel. The stores sell their plastic film to Trex via their chains distribution centers. At the end of the 6-month period, if Warm Hearth has met the challenge, we will receive a sustainable Trex bench for all to enjoy. The committee is asking for your help to collect and donate your bags and join the efforts to reduce, reuse, and recycle.
