1/5/2016 - Dual presidential primaries on March 1
March 1, 2016, is known as Super Tuesday because several states will be conducting presidential primaries at the same time. Virginia, including Montgomery County, will be conducting dual presidential primaries this year. All 24 County polling places will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

When voters come to the polls, they will be required to tell the Officers of Election at the registration table whether they wish to vote in the Democratic or Republican primary. If the voter chooses the Republican Primary, the voter will have to sign a pledge stating they are a Republican before obtaining their ballot. If the voter does not sign the pledge, the voter will not be able to vote. The Democratic Primary does not require a pledge.

The Virginia State Board of Elections drew names for placement on the ballot on Dec. 16 and the ballots will include the following:

2016 Democratic Presidential Primary ballot:

1. Hillary Clinton
2. Martin O’Malley
3. Bernie Sanders

2016 Republican Presidential Primary ballot:

1. Marco Rubio
2. Lindsey Graham
3. Ben Carson
4. Rand Paul
5. Mike Huckabee
6. Ted Cruz
7. Donald Trump

11. Rick Santorum
12. John Kasich
