Connect with the County

There are a variety of ways to connect with the county to keep up with happenings and important information. In addition to visiting the county's website, citizens can follow social media, podcasts, and WMCC TV (Shentel and Comcast channels 190). 

Social Media

The Public Information Office maintains the county's primary social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.

A number of our departments and agencies maintain their own social media accounts.

 

Podcasts

"Today," Montgomery County's Podcast, features brief summaries of Board of Supervisors meetings as well as conversations with county staff about various topics that may impact residents. Topics range from tips and reminders from Emergency Services to Parks and Recreation offerings to guidance from Animal Control about responsible pet ownership.

WMCC-TV

Montgomery County-Christiansburg Channels 190 broadcast public meetings and government videos and information. Board of Supervisors meetings are archived on YouTube.

Social Media Policy

The county welcomes public comments to the Montgomery County Facebook page and/or Twitter stream. The purpose of the county's presence on Facebook and/or Twitter is to present matters of public interest in Montgomery County for its residents, businesses and visitors. We encourage you to submit your questions, comments and concerns, but please note this is a moderated online discussion site and not a public forum.

Once posted, Montgomery County reserves the right to delete comments that contain:

  • profane language or content;
  • information that may tend to compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems; and/or
  • content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates discrimination against protected classes..

Further, Montgomery County reserves the right to delete any comments that:

  • include spam or links to other sites;
  • solicitations of commerce or advertisements including promotion or endorsement;
  • advocate illegal activity;
  • promote particular services, products, political organizations and/or candidates; and/or
  • infringe on copyrights or trademarks.

While visiting County social media sites, you participate at your own risk, taking personal responsibility for your comments, your username and any information provided. By commenting or posting, you specifically agree to hold Montgomery County, its employees and officers harmless from any liability associated with your comment or post.

The county’s social media platforms are administered by designated staff. When one of the county’s social media administrators suspects a violation of the Montgomery County Social Media Policy, he or she will contact the Public Information Office, which will review and authorize removal of a comment when appropriate.
