Human Services
The Human Services Division keeps citizens, agencies and county government informed about services and programs, both public and private, in the areas of human services delivery. The programs administered include:
Alternative Community Programs
Virginia Juvenile Community Crime Control Act (VJCCCA)
Grant-funded Alternative Community Programs are sanctions available to the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court and Court Services Unit to address delinquent behaviors of youth involved in the juvenile justice system. The programs are designed to provide juveniles with a basic understanding of responsibility and good work habits. Montgomery County Human Services acts as the Fiscal Agent for the VJCCCA grant. The Court Services Unit administers the program, provides services and monitors services.
Children's Services Act (CSA)
The Children's Services Act was enacted by the General Assembly in 1993 to pool funds to purchase services for high-risk youth. Its goal is to provide high quality, child centered, family focused, cost effective, community-based services to high–risk youth and their families. Human Services oversees the County’s CSA program, creating a collaborative system of service delivery. CSA funds are managed at the local level by two multidisciplinary teams.
Volunteer Montgomery (formerly RSVP)
Volunteer Montgomery networks to create volunteer opportunities and serve as a resource for area organizations. The program links the skills, knowledge and experience of volunteers with the needs of their community. The program provides support while providing volunteer opportunities.
