Volunteer Montgomery

Volunteer opportunities include assisting area non-profit organizations, visiting nursing homes, bake sales and specialized events throughout the year.

Volunteer time commitment is up to each individual and their availability. Volunteers must be willing to serve without compensation.  Minors (under 18 years of age) must have a parent/guardian accompany them on all Volunteer Montgomery activities. Parent/guardian must also complete a Volunteer Enrollment Application.

Volunteer Montgomery is seeking participants for its Chili Cook-Off fundraising event! The event takes place on Oct. 19, at 10 am, at the Montgomery County Government Center. Early Entry Fee: $5 (Register by Aug. 1). Regular Entry Fee: $10 (Register by Sep. 1).

• Designer Handbag Collection – Volunteer Montgomery is making plans for a Designer Handbag Auction later this year! To prepare, we are accepting donations of new and gently used designer purses whose original value exceeded $100 for the auction. Donations can be dropped off at our office during business hours (M-F, 8:30 am – 5 pm). Please note that any purses showing significant wear or do not meet the required retail value will not be accepted for this particular event.
• Birthday in a Box Supply Drive – Throughout September, we are collecting supplies for the Special Deliveries program of NRVCS and the Montgomery County DSS. We are collecting the following items to create “birthday-in-a-box” gifts for families who are unable to celebrate their children’s birthday: Cake Mix, Cake Icing, Birthday Candles (singles or numbers), Toys/Books for children of ALL ages ($10 and under), Birthday Gift Bags, and Tissue Paper. Please drop off any donations to the Volunteer Montgomery office by September 30th.
• 17th Annual Walk-A-Thon for Supplies for Seniors – Our annual Walk-A-Thon fundraising event will be held at the Christiansburg Recreation Center on Sunday, September 29th from 2-4pm.
