County Purchases Property For Career Fire and EMS Administrative Offices

On Monday, February 24, 2025, the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors approved the purchase of a building located at 305 Roanoke Street in Christiansburg.

The purchase price of the building was $925,000, with closing taking place on Thursday, February 27. Prior to purchasing the property, the County conducted due diligence by completing both a Phase I and a Phase II environmental assessment. In addition, a property appraisal was completed by a third party.

"The primary purpose of this building is for administrative office space for the County’s career fire and emergency management services administrative staff," said Angie Hill, Montgomery County Administrator.  "In addition, the building will be used for classroom-style training for career and volunteer fire and rescue first responders, as well as equipment storage."

This new administrative office space provides the Montgomery County Fire and EMS Department, in partnership with the County’s fire and rescue volunteer agencies, the necessary capacity to serve our growing community.

With the purchase complete, the next steps include architecture and engineering work. Once design plans are finalized and approved by the Board of Supervisors, then renovations to the building will begin. This process is anticipated to take 12 to 18 months.
