Pursuant to Section 15.2 – 4300 through 15.2 – 4314 of the Code of Virginia, as amended, the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors hereby gives notice of a public hearing to be held on November 24, 2025 at 7:15 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers in the Montgomery County Government Center, 755 Roanoke St., Christiansburg, Virginia to hear citizen comments on the Board of Supervisors intent to act on an ordinance to renew the following Agricultural and Forestal District(s):
Originally established in 1981, District 6 (South of Shawsville) is located in the southeastern portion of Montgomery County and is generally located to the north of the Montgomery and Floyd County Border. The district is located in the vicinity of Alleghany Spring Road (Rt. 637), Boners Run Rd. (Rt. 634) and Sweet Springs Rd (Private). AFD 6 consists of six property owners and approximately 1,658 acres. There are no requested withdrawals or additions to the district.
The aforementioned district is scheduled to expire December 31, 2025. All current landowners in AFD #6 have been advised that the Board of Supervisors may continue, modify, or terminate this district. Additional qualifying lands may be added to these districts at any time prior to the Board of Supervisors’ action, upon separate application. Land may be withdrawn from the district at the owner’s discretion by filing a written notice with the Board of Supervisors at any time before the Board of Supervisors’ action.
