Serves in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors to review capital equipment needs for fire and rescue operations. The commission also works with the Emergency Services Coordinator to make recommendations
in developing a comprehensive strategic plan for fire and rescue services, and any other matters concerning fire and rescue services. Members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors and made up of:
- 1 member from each County volunteer fire department
- 1 member from each County volunteer rescue squads
- 1 staff member from each jurisdiction (Blacksburg, Christiansburg and Montgomery County) knowledgeable of their locality’s capital budget
- 1 member of the Board of Supervisors
- Emergency Services Coordinator
Appointments are for three years. There are no term limits. Meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Government Center, 755 Roanoke St., Christiansburg. View agendas and minutes.
