Home for the Holidays

Animal Care and Adoption Center logo with winter/holiday themeIf you’re looking for a way to give back to the animals in our community, consider providing a Home for the Holidays!

We are always looking for humans to give comfort and joy to our animals in need. We provide the supplies and you provide the loving home! This special program allows fosterers to select a pet to bring into their home during the holiday season (before Thanksgiving and into the new year). Sign up online.

Adopt a Pet

Help save a life by adopting a friend today! Dogs and cats available for adoption at the center can be seen on,, our Facebook page, our Instagram page, and the Friends of Animal Care and Control Facebook page.

The adoption fee is $80 for all dogs, $60 for cats, and $25 for animals (cats or dogs) previously spayed or neutered. All animals adopted from the Animal Care and Adoption Center are spayed or neutered before leaving for their new home. Adoption fees cover this cost. All cats and dogs must be properly vaccinated for rabies. A lifetime dog tag must be obtained, starting at four months old.

The center does not sell animals for medical research.

Cat Intake Policies

Cats are a new addition for the Animal Care and Adoption Center. Montgomery County residents may give their cats up for adoption if they can no longer take care of them. Kittens and injured cats will also be taken into the Center to receive care and new homes. If you are bringing your cat to the center for adoption, please call and make an appointment so we can ensure we have space to accommodate your cat.

Live Release Rates

A shelter’s “Live Release Rate” is the number of live outcomes divided by the number of total outcomes.

The Center gives every animal in its care the time and support needed to find a loving home. However, because the Center takes in some very vulnerable and sick animals--including newborn orphaned animals--some of the animals in our care do pass away or are humanely euthanized to end suffering due to incurable disease.

*The Animal Care and Adoption Center opened in April 2017. Statistics prior to that time are from the former animal shelter.
