On Friday, July 25, 2025, Governor Glenn Youngkin announced the appointment of Todd King, Board of Supervisors, District D, to the Virginia Fire Services Board (VFSB).
King was elected in November of 2013 to represent District D on the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors. He served as Board Chair in 2019 and Vice Chair in 2017. Currently, King is running unopposed for his fourth term on the Board of Supervisors. In addition to his 12 years of service on the Board of Supervisors, he has served eight years as the Chair of the Montgomery County Public Service Authority Board.
During his time on the Board of Supervisors, King has served on several committees, boards and commissions. King is an active member of the Riner Volunteer Fire Department with more than 20 years of experience. During his two decades of public service in his community, he has served as a firefighter, engineer, secretary, and Emergency Vehicle Operator Course instructor for the Riner Volunteer Fire Department.
The VFSB members are appointed by the Governor to serve four-year terms. The purpose of the VFSB is to coordinate activities of various fire service organizations across Virginia; provide advice to the Virginia Department of Fire Programs on Statewide Fire Prevention Code and the financial support of volunteer fire departments. In addition, the VFSB assists in recommendations related to the programs and criteria for fire training.
