4/17/2018 - Broomin’ and Bloomin’ celebrates 35 years

Broomin' and Bloomin', an annual Montgomery County clean-up event that began in 1983, is celebrating 35 years on April 28. Each year, volunteers help clean up roadsides, parks, streams, school grounds, and other public properties throughout the county.

"I've coordinated Broomin' and Bloomin' with the county the past six years," said Bill Long, Montgomery County Assistant General Services Manager.

"This event is a great opportunity for residents to come together for the greater good of the community. I'm hopeful we will have lots of volunteers sign up to help with this worthwhile event again this year!"

Individuals as well as civic and church groups are welcome. In 2017, volunteers covered over 41 miles in the County and collected 1,720 pounds of refuse.

The deadline for volunteers to sign up for this year's event is April 20. Volunteers receive trash bags, gloves, and safety vests. To learn more about the event or to sign up to volunteer, visit www.montva.com/broominbloomin.

Keeping our community clean protects our local environment and helps ensure that Montgomery County will be sustainable for years to come.
